ISAGER SOCK YARN consists of 40% Easy Wash Alpaca, 40% Easy Wash Merino Wool, 20% Recycled Nylon. The quality has a good durability, gives a soft result and can withstand being put in the washing machine.
Easy Wash is an eco-friendly alternative to the widely used chlorine process that changes the surface of the fibers so that they do not shrink as easily in the wash. The process consists of a treatment with eco-friendly oxidants, produced in Germany and certified under REACH, Oeko-tex and ZDH (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemical) standards. Unlike most other machine washable yarns on the market today, this process does not release harmful substances into the environment.
A sock yarn requires a certain percentage of synthetic fiber to be able to last. Isager sock yarn uses 20% recycled nylon. This is the first time they have used a chemically produced fiber, but they simply had not been able to find a yarn that was both soft enough for it to be comfortable to use, but also strong enough to be used in socks. Recycled nylon is made from a residual material that is discarded in normal nylon production.
